Astrology & Food

Ayurveda talks in terms of tridosha i.e. vata, pitta and kafa (wind, bile & phlegm).
Astrology also talks in terms of how to correlate these three with your rashis and nakshatras.
Let us first see the planets, which control the above.

Sun: Controls heat & pitta (bile) & the foods that control bile also come under the control do the sun. To some extent mars is also a contributory factor. It has been observed that rashis mesh (Aries), Simha (Leo) & Vrichik (Scorpio) and to some extent dhanu (Saggitarius) are all of agni tatva and come under this category.

Moon: Foods that produce phlegm come under the moon as do cold and water borne foods. Kark (Cancer) and meana rashi fall directly under this category being water borne.

Mercury & Jupiter are both considered moderate planets and rashis under their lordship i.e.- Mithuna (Gemini) & Kanya (Virgo) are both moderate.
Venus to some extent gives the results of the moon.
Rahu & Ketu though not planets cause wind are mainly vatakarak.

Those born with Ashwini nakshatra should avoid vatakarak foods, which cause wind. But spicy and hot (temperature) food is fine. Those born in bharani nakshaktra should avoid pitta karak foods and eat moderately hot food. Last part of Aries is kritika nakshatra.
